Ron Mann’s Tables 88 ⁄ Hong Kong project

TABLES 88  ⁄  HONG KONG

THE PROJECT INVOLVED THE MAKEOVER OF AN
HISTORICAL BUILDING IN HONG KONG INTO A
CONTEMPORARY BAR AND RESTAURANT WITH THE
AUSPICIOUS NUMBER 8 IN ITS NAME. THE CLIENT
ASKED RON TO BRING EVERYTHING IN HIS SHOWROOM
TO USE IN THE SPACE. ALLOWED FULL CONTROL OVER
THE CREATIVE PROCESS, RON DEVELOPED MANY OF
HIS SIGNATURE DESIGN DETAILS AND MATERIALS
USES WITH THIS PROJECT. SCULPTURED CORTEN STEEL
IS USED THROUGHOUT THE RESTAURANT TO DEFINE
THE SPACE. A KHAKI COLORED CONCRETE FLOOR WAS
CAST, INLAID WITH CURVED DOUGLAS FIR “TUSKS” AND
METAL PLATES OF BRONZE, BRASS, ALUMINUM
AND STEEL. FABRIC LAMINATED TABLES AND WALLS
WERE HAND PRINTED BY LOUISE MANN.
RON USED RECYLCED WOODS FROM CALIFORNIA
IN THE FABRICATION OF CHAIRS, TABLES AND BARS.
